We have Reopened

850 Strong Rock Steady Boxing reopened with social distancing Thursday 6/18/20.  Our fitness program looks much different than the videos you will see on our website, on our Facebook page, and in our gallery - but our Fighters still get an excellent workout.  Our group is smaller and our Fighters separated by 6' but the results of support and rigorous non-contact fitness training is huge!

Sign up below if you are interested in becoming a Fighter!

The mission for 850 Strong Rock Steady Boxing is to increase awareness and advocacy through community outreach, education, and resources for people living with Parkinson's disease in Bay County and surrounding areas including their caregivers, family and friends.

There are more than 600 people living with Parkinson’s disease in Bay County but nearly half of them are not receiving treatment or support. The reasons for this may vary, but our organization believes that a lack of understanding about Parkinson’s disease may be part of the cause.

While many organizations focus on finding a cure, Rock Steady Boxing helps people living with Parkinson’s disease fight their biggest opponents –

1) depression, 2) deterioration of strength, sensory function, motor skills, coordination, communication and 3) increased risk for falls and isolation.

850 Strong is an official Rock Steady Boxing Affiliate certified in the “Rock Steady Method,” designed to improve quality of life through non-contact boxing based fitness classes.  Rock Steady Boxing classes emphasize core strength, loudness, flexibility, big movements, balance, camaraderie, eye hand coordination, and cognition to favorably impact mood, posture, communication, range of motion, and gait. Research shows that rigorous exercise slows the progression of Parkinson’s symptoms, improves the ability to perform activities of daily living.  Our fitness sessions put emphasis on gross motor movement, balance, core strength and rhythm to favorably impact mood, flexibility, posture, and range of motion.
